My teacher Don Mcunn gave some wonderful advice to one of my group members today. He was responding to her comment about the doll slopers that he created for designing doll clothes. She was saying that it's nice to be able to use the slopers to design clothes for her doll because you can pretty much skip the...not sew fun stuff and just go straight to the fun part, Design. He said, "Design is the fun part but mastering fitted slopers is what will allow you to become self-sufficient and liberated from a dependence on others. Helping people achieve this kind of independence is what motivated me to write my book "How to Make Sewing Patterns."
I have that book "How to make sewing patterns" and it is wonderful! I can tell that Mr. Mcunn likes to teach beginners and that he has thorough knowledge of fashion design :) I also agree with my fellow member. It is fun to just do the designing. I myself like to alter store bought patterns to create new designs but I want to have a deeper understanding of fashion design. I decided today to focus and commit myself to learning. I am sew excited you all! :)
Take care :)
Peace!
Mastering the not sew fun part
YaaaaY for Epiphanies!!!!
Today I had and epiphany. I was talking to my sister and I made up my mind that I was going to back away from my Facebook pages and my other blogs so that I can focus on my education and my children's education. I might dibble and dabble in it a bit but for the most part I have my priorities in order. I am sew excited because I am usually soooo worn out because I want to do it all but now I can slow down and take my time:) Haha! I feel sew liberated and sew happy!
Peace :)
Hi Don,
I am wondering if you will help me to develop a quick curriculum for myself. I know you have intentions to retire soon and so I would need to make the most of time time I have left with you. I want to use your books and slopers to make patterns for her. (My dolly model)
Hoping to measure up....
Hey All! Hi me :) I think I am the only one reading this any way but that's cool. I should have some company soon because I have a dilemma. Welcome fellow group members! Thanks sew much for popping over! :) I don't think I know how to use a scaled ruler. See I don't even know what to call the procedure, if it is a procedure. Anyways I have to divide the distance 4 7/8 in thirds. I have a 1/3 scale ruler and things aren't measuring up. :/
I have to measure from one side seam to the other
So this is how I started. I got the original 4 7/8 measurement from a regular ruler and then I lined my 1/3 scale ruler up to do my...doing...
I found 4 7/8 on my 1/3 scale ruler...and marked...
I then lined up at that first mark, measured 4 7/8 again and marked...but that's not divided in half...or is it??....anyways.. onto the THIRD divide!
Lined up...and marked again. There it is 4 7/8 divided into thirds! :) Right? :/
It doesn't look right. My lines were suppose to fall within the side seam lines. I don't think I did it right. I can hardly wait to find out what I did wrong :)
Take wonderful care everyone!!! :) Thanks sew much for your help :)
Hey Everyone:) I hope you all are well:) I am Sewwonderfulandfullofwonder.
Take Care!
Peace!
I can't believe how long it has been since my last post...well...yes I can. I have thought about that last post on several occasions and then I would..think of something else. Like now....I am thinking that I need to start diiinnneerrr. Okay so let me get this post started and finished. I want to keep tabs on a recent project that I have gotten myself into. LooL:D ( Notice the "gotten myself into" part) I have recently taken on a few projects. Those projects combined with taking care of my home and lil people has kept me woowee busy! Anyways (gotta get that dinner started.) Here is my pledge for the challenge I am doing. I, Sajatha of sewwonderfulandfullofwonder.blogspot.com/, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '12. I endeavour to wear at least one self-sewn or refashioned garment each day for the duration of May 2012' Sew, That's all for now...Peace:)

A New Day. A New Year and A New Plan.
Another year has begun on this beautiful beautiful day:) I hope everyone is Wonderful and full of Wonder:) I am, although lately I feel as though I have been on an emotional roller coaster. I am Truly amazed by my mind and heart. I go back and forth between wanting to pursue running an online business or just leaving it alone for now and focusing on my six little people. Both take up so much of my time and I don't want to lose myself in either. I mean really, after tucking them into bed, I am suppose to go and do my business for a few hours? Part of me says "duh Yeah" and then there is the other part that says "what about...me?"
I pressed enter three times......now let's see where the picture ends up. Goody!
The picture is clear and I know to expect my pictures to show up above my....typing.....paragraph...yeah that's it:)
I thought I would be able to type at length...well...not toooo long but its not going to happen because a little person is fussing at me. So, I have to save this and go....or do I have to save it?
Looks like I was able to save it and come back and keep typing.....TMI, I know. So anyways, I have been watching the leaves fall off the trees and have been thinking " Oh my goodness I need to hurry and utilize those fabrics that I feel are super falley". LoooL:D I know that isn't a word...is it? Probably not. Anyways I like a good challenge and so I have proposed one to myself. I will (God willing) utilize only my fallish materials until all the trees are no longer colorful!!! I can make whatever, flowers, clothes, hats, it doesn't matter as long as it is my Fallishish material. Hopefully I will create a flickr group.....maybe not. I will be busy enough just posting pictures here.
So there it is! Let the Sewing Game Begiiin!!! Peace:)
I maaaade iiit:)) Today was wiiiiild! I just knew I was going too be able to finish my garment early enough to take early pictures:) but.....yeah.....Anyways, I didn't know exactly what I was going to do but I knew what fabric I wanted to use:) I think it turned out pretty pretty:) and my photos were edited by my sweet friend Char'lette:) She SAVED me! LoooL:D Check it out:) http://www.flickr.com/photos/25635325@N07/ Peace:)
